Earlier this year, as the tenth anniversary of the movie adaptation approaches, both director Edgar Wright and O’Malley himself reached out to Ubisoft. Since then, fans have shouted almost constantly for the title to be re-released, often reaching out to the author himself despite it generally not being in his control. There were a few reasons for the removal, most commonly being blamed on a lost license. Released in 2013, the side-scrolling retro beat-’em-up was removed a year later on December 30th, 2014. Unfortunately, it was also a short-lived experience.
Based off of the same six-volume comic series by Bryan Lee O’Malley as the cult classic movie, the game was an immediate hit. Such was the case with the video game adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. Whether it’s through delaying a title or outright removing it, gamers tend to get pretty upset when the game they want is taken from their hands. Nothing gets a fan base whipped into a frenzy quite like having developers and publishers not bow to their whims – for better or for worse.īut possibly the worst thing you can do to the gaming community is deny it a game. If there’s one thing the gaming community hates, it’s being told no.
